This page explains how Unpocket evaluates smart wearables — and, just as importantly, how we handle products we have not yet been able to buy or borrow. Our goal is that you always know exactly how much weight a given claim deserves.
Three source tiers, on every claim
- Hands-on (verified): something we or a named reviewer physically confirmed — weight, comfort, real-world battery, outdoor visibility, UI behavior.
- Brand-supplied: official specifications from the manufacturer. Useful, but not independently confirmed.
- Needs verification: figures we could not confirm from a primary source. We flag these rather than print them as fact.
Launch-week guides vs. hands-on reviews
When a category is moving fast, we sometimes publish a launch-week guide before we have every device in hand. These guides are labeled as such, name their sources, and promise a specific update path: as we get hands-on time, we replace the relevant sections in place and note the change. We never fabricate a “we tested” claim to fill a gap.
What we will not do
- Publish a numeric rating or star score for a device we have not physically tested.
- Use AI-generated concept images in place of real product photography.
- Let affiliate commissions change a ranking or recommendation.
